PRESENTATION:
The National Park of the Abiseo River (PNRA) it is part of the National System of Protected Natural Areas for the State (SINANPE) that at the moment 58 ANP's adds that are distributed in 9 categories. It is one of the protected natural areas of bigger importance of the Peru, to have mixed resources (natural and cultural).
was created the August of 1983, 11 by means of supreme ordinance Nº 064-83-AG on an area of 274 520 h., it is recognized internationally from 1992 by the UNESCO like a Place of Mixed World Patrimony. |

OBJECTIVES OF THE PNRA:
The main objective is to conserve and to protect the forests of fog of the forest brow and high forest, conserving endemic species of flora and wild fauna.
SOCIOECONOMICS:
Inside the Area of Reduction of the Park they live more than 30 thousand people that inhabit in 26 towns. Which are devoted mostly to the traditional agriculture and the hunt. In general the populations spread to diversify their activities originated by the dependence of practical extractive which is varied.
In the last years several groups of people of different towns have been organized and they participate actively in the handling activities and conservation of flora resources and fauna carried out by the Administration of the PNRA in the Area of Reduction (ZA).
The environmental benefits that it offers the Park for the ZA are very important, since it generates oxygen, it assures the supply of the hydric resource, it regulates the climate, drain of carbon, etc.
LOCATION:
The PNRA is located in the amazon hillside of the cordillera of the Andes, to the west of the town of Huicungo, province of Mariscal Cáceres in San Martin's department.

BIODIVERSITY:
In the PNRA exist 8 areas of life that comprehend from the 350 until the 4349 m.s.n.m. With a flora and very varied fauna. The forests of fog that conform most of the Park contain the biggest diversity of plants after the tropical humid forests, their flora includes ferns, orchids, bromelias, canes, mosses and plants characteristic of the high forest. have been identified 261 goods, 105 families and 1000 species of flora of which 13 have been identified as new for the science and many have not still been determined.
Of the 305 species registered in fauna (Among the 2000 to 4200 m.s.n.m. in the watershed of the Montecristo River , still lack more ecosystems that to investigate), Is Find the Monkey choro of yellow tail (Lagothrix falvicauda), the Picuro of mountain (Agouti taczanowskii) and species threatened as the Taruca (Hippocamelus antisensis), the Bear of glasses (Tremarctos ornaments), the Jaguar (Panther onca) and the Maquisapa of mountain (Ties them Belzebuth). Of the species of birds we find the Paujil of white stomach (Crax salvini), the Condor of the forest (Sarcoramphus potato), the Parrot of yellow head (Amazon ochrocephala) and the Duck of brown head (Netta erythrophthalma).
